PITTSFIELD, Mass. (NEWS10) -- A Pittsfield man was arrested on Sunday after police responded to a home invasion on the 400 block of Tyler Street. Police say 21-year-old Jada Lopez was arrested and faces one count of home invasion, with possible additional charges. On Sunday, just before 7 p.m., police responded to a home on the 400 block of Tyler Street for an initial report of a man holding a woman hostage at gunpoint. Further investigation revealed a man had broken into the home and threatened a resident with a large knife, per Pittsfield Police.Law enforcement says shortly after they arrived, they saw a suspect (Lopez) fleeing from the home and quickly took him into custody. NEW SCOTLAND, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- New York State Police are investigating a fatal car crash that took place on Upper Flat Rock Road in New Scotland on Sunday. ST. LOUIS - One person was killed, and two others were taken to the hospital after a multi-vehicle crash overnight in north St. Louis.The Accident Reconstruction team from the St Louis Police Department is doing the investigation since the crash involved a fatality. That investigation still ongoing.The wreck happened at the Riverview Boulevard and West Florissant Avenue intersection, and involved a Dodge Charger, a Ford Focus, and a smaller U-Haul truck. Police got the original call for the crash shortly before 2:00 a.m. Boat runs aground at Lake of the Ozarks, strikes home Police shared that the Charger was west on West Florissant when it hit the Ford Focus which was south on Riverview. Homicide investigators with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department are looking into what led up to a deadly double shooting in Rancho Palos Verdes early Monday morning. According to an LASD release, the incident was reported around 6:50 a.m. in the 7000 block of Palos Verdes Drive. The victims, an unidentified man and woman, were pronounced deceased at the scene. The bill proposed by California Assemblymember Matt Haney (D-San Francisco) that helps incarcerated parents maintain contact with their children and was signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom on Friday. AB 1226, known as the “Keep Families Close” bill, orders the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) to place an incarcerated parent, legal guardian or caregiver of a minor child in the correctional facility closest to their child’s home, a press release from Haney's office said. Included in the bill is the option for already incarcerated parents to request a transfer to the prison closest to their child’s home. The bill does not apply to individuals convicted of violence and sex related offenses that prohibit them from having child visitation rights.
